ITALY-ISRAEL CELEBRATING 70 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS: WATER-PLANT-SOIL INTERACTION RESEARCH TEAM OF SANT’ANNA SCHOOL LIFE SCIENCES INSTITUTE PRESENT RESULTS ABOUT REMOVAL OF PHARMACEUTICALS FROM TREATED WASTEWATER IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA

Researchers from the Life Sciences Institute of Sant’Anna School will participate in the 70th anniversary of Italy-Israel bilateral relations being celebrated on Tuesday, October 5 in Rome – Farnesina Palace. The long-standing (1949-2019) and successful history of collaboration between the two nations for research and innovation supports knowledge-transfer programs and collaborative projects including energy, environment, space science, health and food security.

Sant’Anna School agronomist Elisa Pellegrino invited speaker will give her talk onRemoval of Pharmaceuticals from treated wastewater in Mediterranean Basin” covering the joint project (under the supervision of researcher Rudy Rossetto) Pharm-Swap Med findings. The Italy-Israel “side by side” partnership plays a key role in enhancing co-funded research for future opportunities and challenges for both sides.

As global leaders promoting research engagement across priority sectors to address societal challenges locally and globally, Emanuela Del Re, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will give her remarks at the event featuring keynote speakers Lucia Azzolina (Undersecretary - Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research ), Vincenzo de Luca (Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Cultural - Economic Development and Innovation) and the Israeli Ambassador to Italy, Dror Eydar. Academics Caterina La Porta (University of Milano) and Eytan Domany (Weizmann Institute of Science) will discuss “Big data and Tumors”. The event starts at 10.00 am – conference room Aldo Moro.
